Groningen is ready for more passengers

Groningen station is one of the most important railway stations in the Northern Netherlands. Every day more than 33,000 passengers use this station, which connects them to the rest of the country. The number of passengers is increasing and Groningen station is bursting at the seams. To cope with the increased number of passengers and the estimated 44,000 passengers by 2030, the station will be completely modernised and adapted to today's needs. In the future, passengers will travel faster, easier and more comfortably to and from Groningen.

Our input

The Aelbers skilled workers work on different parts within the project. An underground bicycle park and bus subway will be built. Our professionals take care of the concrete elements, such as walls and floors. They also work in finishing where concrete construction, mechanical and electrical engineering come together. Aelbers has supported construction partner Strukton on this project since 2021. The project is expected to be completed around the end of 2025.
